Since we’ve promised the best, let’s start with one of our personal favorites: Furnitureland South. They describe themselves as “the best-kept secret in the furniture industry” and they may not be far off.
This North Carolina outlet about 50 minutes north of Charlotte offers some of the most diverse styles of home furniture, and boasts a massive warehouse you’ll need a tour guide for.
With contemporary furniture and décor from top name brands, Furnitureland South also offers competitive prices and very speedy delivery. Their massive warehouse includes home, outdoor and patio, and kids’ furniture as well as décors such as rugs, bedding and linens, or lighting fixtures.

2. Design Within Reach (Modern)
Yes, Design Within Reach is part of a larger chain, but this local outpost is really good. (As an added bonus, it’s super close to Crate & Barrel so you can hit two birds with one stone.)
At Design Within Reach, you can find distinct pieces of furniture for your living room, bedroom, kitchen, and even your home office. They also offer numerous storage solutions, outdoor furniture, and accessories. Nils has a wooden media console set that is absolutely gorgeous; I think it keeps getting better as it ages.
It’s a great source of modern home furniture and décor that’s both practical and inspiring and offers a great range of minimalist, clean styles.
Design Within Reach also offers design services to customers in need of a little inspiration or support.

Even when I’m not shopping for furniture, I return for gifts like cut-glass goblets for my sister, or antique jewelry for a friend.
